Bryan Cranston has given a lot of masterful performances over the years. From Malcom in the Middle to Breaking Bad, the actor has shown a lot of range. However, one of his best works is in an underrated crime thriller, Your Honor, in which he plays a judge caught between a rock and a hard place. Your Honor is one of the most remade works of fiction in recent years, originally produced in Israel before being exported to the United States and other subsequent destinations. For those who can’t get enough of the premise, a new report reveals that the show is being remade in Greece for local broadcaster Antenna. This would make the Greek version the fourth remake this year.
In the American version, Cranston plays Judge Michael Desiato, a respected judge in the city of New Orleans. Judge Desiato is known for being tough on crime and has a particular disdain for organized crime, having sent many criminals to jail. The city, however, does not lack these groups, with the Baxters being one of the most notorious crime families. The Desiatos and the Baxters collide when the judge’s son accidentally murders the criminal’s son, and a game of dominance begins as the father in Michael kicks in, and he seeks to protect his son.
Despite great performances and overall series direction, Your Honor was not well-received by critics, receiving a rating of only 49% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Billed initially as a limited series, the hit show was renewed for a second season, which was also not well-received. Showtime opted to end the series after its second season. Your Honor also starred Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Hope Davis (Perry Mason), Isaiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire), Michael Stuhlbarg (Call Me By Your Name), and Carmen Ejogo (The Crowded Room), among others.
‘Your Honor’ Season 3 Could Be Coming
The show found new life when all seasons were added to Netflix last year, and connected with subscribers. When asked if CBS Studios was planning to make a third season for Showtime or Netflix, David Stapf said that they loved the show and were “hoping that it can continue,” admitting that it was “a little too soon to know or to tell.” However, “we would like there to be a Season 3, but we’re ways away,” he added. There have been no further updates since then. Meanwhile, remakes have aired in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, and India, with plans to make more local versions in Ukraine, Hong Kong, and Poland.
