‘Archie Comics’ & ‘Army of Darkness’ Are Set for a Groovy Comic Book Crossover!!

It’s an exciting time to be an Archie fan, as a new live-action film is on the way. However, Archie Comics has had tons of iconic crossovers in the last number of years. They’ve gone toe-to-toe with the DC Universe and Jay and Silent Bob. However, the classic comic book brand will soon be getting its scariest and grooviest crossover to date.

Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics will be teaming up for Archie and the Army of Darkness. The latter of which was the third entry in Sam Raimi’s popular Evil Dead franchise starring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. The series will see the deadites coming to Riverdale looking for more souls to possess. However, this isn’t the first time Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead have been included in the horror genre. Alongside Sabrina the Teenage Witch being one of their most popular books for decades, they have had an Archie Horror sub-series since 2015. This has included titles like Afterlife With Archie, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Jughead: The Hunger, and Vampironica.

Archie & Ash vs. the ‘Evil Dead’

As for Archie and the Army of Darkness, Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante teased, “Ash Williams has seen it all: demonic forces, time travel, monstrous doppelgängers. But Ash might be in for his toughest battle yet: fighting a horde of deadites alongside a group of teenagers!” While the deadites are a scary bunch of movie monsters, “Thankfully, Archie and his friends are no strangers to the undead. And we couldn’t be more excited for everyone to see what madness will ensue when these two horror icons collide!Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher, also stated in the press release, “It’s always a blast to collaborate with other titans of the industry. We’re excited to be back in business with Archie and the whole Riverdale crew, cooking up some exciting stories and more for fans. Leading off with the franchise that started it all for us at Dynamite was the perfect choice.

This isn’t the first time Dynamite and Archie worked together. They previously released Red Sonja & Vampirella Meets Betty & Veronica. Archie has had an extensive horror history over the years, facing off against the Predator in the late 2010s. However, it’s going to be particularly exciting to see the humor of Archie and Evil Dead blend together. Ash Williams has faced off against many things, but the colorful teenagers of Riverdale may have his number.
