‘Black Mirror’ Creator Sets New Netflix Series Starring Paddy Considine, Georgina Campbell & Lena Headey!!

Netflix and “Black Mirror” creator Charlie Brooker are getting together for yet another streaming project, as he’ll write/direct a new untitled limited four-part crime thriller series, which is now in production.

That’s not it, as the series has selected three high-profile casting selections with Paddy Considine (“MobLand,” “House of The Dragon”), Georgina Campbell (“Black Mirror,” “Barbarian”), and Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones,” “Dredd”) taking lead roles in it.

An official logline shared with us by Netflix:

A profoundly serious, stunningly original crime thriller in which a tormented detective from the Northern city of Bleakford ventures down to London on a mission to catch a ritualistic serial killer before they run out of people to kill. Contains blood and frowning.

Other details include that Brooker collaborator Al Campbell (“Code 404”) will direct after previously working with the creator on comedic mockumetary specials such as “Death to 2020” and “Cunk On Life.Brooker leads a writers’ room that includes Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier, and Joel Morris, alongside additional material by Victoria Asare Archer.

The show’s producing team features Richard Webb, Brooker, Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones, and Mark Kinsella.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be saying these words for the press release. I’ve dreamt of providing a quote ever since I was a young foetus, and now here I am doing it. I’d pinch myself, but like all of us, I’m terrified that if I do that, I might wake up and discover 2025 has all been a magical dream. Please watch my show. I am begging you,” Brooker said in a cheeky official statement on the new limited series.

This pitch, on paper, sounds like the new detective project could end up becoming the British version of Season 1 of HBO‘s “True Detective,” as it is being promoted as being “serious,” but we have to imagine Brooker’s dry and dark humor will shine through, even if the subject matter, the hunt for a ritual serial killer, isn’t terribly far removed from some of the episodes of “Black Mirror.” However, it remains to be seen if Brooker is going to try to insert humor when he can; we can picture that happening.

We’ll also keep our fingers crossed that Brooker finds a role for longtime pal and comedic actress Diane Morgan (“Cunk on Life”), who isn’t currently mentioned on the call sheet.
