Netflix has officially decided the fate of one of its biggest shows of 2025 over a month after the Season 1 finale. The streamer has confirmed that The Hunting Wives has been renewed and will move forward with a second season. Starring Malin Akerman (Watchmen) and Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect), The Hunting Wives spent several weeks atop streaming charts on Netflix. The show is set in deep East Texas and follows Sophie O’Neil (Snow) as she succumbs to the social charms of the local Margo (Akerman). Her life quickly becomes consumed by obsession, seduction, and even murder.
In addition to Akerman and Snow, Dermot Mulroney can also be seen in The Hunting Wives as Jed Banks. Mulroney can also be seen in the hit procedural, Chicago Fire, as Dom Pascal. Jamie Ray Newman and Evan Jonigkeit were recruited for roles in Netflix’s erotic thriller. The former is best known for her role in Catch Me If You Can, and the latter is famous for starring as Road in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Additional names to star in The Hunting Wives include George Ferrier, Katie Lowes, Chrissy Metz, Alexandria DaBerry, Joyce Glenn, and Chosen Jacobs.
The Hunting Wives is based on the novel of the same name by May Cobb, with Rebecca Perry Cutter adapting the novel to the screen for Netflix with help from Benjamin Flores, Will Hettinger, and Kayla Westergard-Dobson. Cutter got her start writing a few episodes of Gotham and The Mentalist, and she also recently wrote and created Hightown, the cop drama starring Prison Break veteran Amaury Nolasco with three seasons streaming on Netflix.
What’s Streaming on Netflix Right Now?
The Hunting Wives has said goodbye to the Netflix top 10 for now, and it’s since been replaced by the second season of Wednesday, the hit dark comedy show starring Jenna Ortega. My Life With the Walter Boys and Wolf King are also sitting comfortably in the Netflix top 10 TV chart.
As for movies, fans of The Hunting Wives should check out Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River, which has finally begun its streaming descent after dominating Netflix charts for weeks now. Nothing can match the power of K-Pop Demon Hunters, though. It’s officially one of the most watched Netflix original movies ever, and still the biggest movie on the platform more than two months after release.
