‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch’ Trailer Finds Sam Fisher Back in Action!! Check It Out!!

It’s a good day to be a Splinter Cell fan. Netflix finally unveiled the first trailer from the upcoming animated series Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. The action-thriller series hails from John Wick franchise creator Derek Kolstad, and it centers around a legendary agent forced back into action in order to rescue a fellow operative. The show is set to premiere on October 14, and you can check out the trailer in this article.

The trailer of the animated series reveals that there will be a lot hanging in the balance thanks to a small wristwatch. It contains blueprints that certainly can’t fall into the wrong hands. We also get to meet Sam Fisher (voiced by Liev Schreiber), the massively popular main character of the Splinter Cell video games. In the story, Fisher is a black ops agent who works for the Fourth Echelon — a top-secret US government division that handles state secrets. The voice cast also features Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Sandman) as Zinnia Mckenna.

Even though Splinter Cell has been a popular video game franchise for over 20 years, this is the very first adaptation of the series. The stealth nature of the video games makes for a perfect action-thriller setting, as the trailer also underscores. It plays up the night-vision goggles that are the trademark of the video game series and also suggests that the show won’t hold back on the graphic violence — which will make the stakes feel even higher for Sam Fisher.

Who Is the Team Behind ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Death Watch’?

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is brought to life by Ubisoft Film & Television along with two animation studios: Sun Creature, which collaborated on the award-winning animated movie Flee and Love, Death + Robots episodes, and Fost, which worked on My Father’s Dragon and Wolfwalkers. The upcoming series’ first season will be spread across eight episodes. Needless to say, if audiences respond well to the show, there is plenty of material for additional seasons: the video game series has six installments.

The series is directed by Guillaume Dousse, who makes his TV series directing debut. Episodes are written by Derek Kolstad, who created the John Wick franchise, Die Hart, and worked with Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) in the Nobody franchise and, most recently, in Normal.

Netflix debuts Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch on October 14. You can check out the trailer above.
