MGM+ is offering audiences the chance to turn the page and jump back into one of their old favorites today with the arrival of the official trailer for the streamer’s upcoming telling of Robin Hood. Reintroducing the iconic literary character first dreamt up by Howard Pyle in his 1883 novel, the new project puts a fresh twist on the timeless classic and features blossoming star, Jack Patten (NCIS: Sydney), in the leading role of the vigilante. Showcasing Robin Hood’s (Patten) origin story and teasing how he became the bow-and-arrow aficionado that we all know and love, the trailer also gives us a look at how the latest project will differ from those in the past and introduces us to a stacked lineup that also includes the talents of Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring), Lauren McQueen (The Wasting) and Connie Nielsen (Gladiator).

Robin Hood is a name that’s synonymous with Sherwood Forest, so it’s a great place for the trailer to start as it introduces viewers to a young version of the famed fighter during his early days of learning how to hit a bullseye. Sadly, nothing good is waiting for Rob as he grows towards adulthood after his father is ruthlessly murdered following the Norman invasion of England. Now on a journey for vengeance alongside his fellow Saxons, Rob becomes an outspoken advocate for bringing down the political leaders who continue to tax and kill his people without a second thought. While Rob pushes his offense under the concealment of his hood, he crosses paths with Marian (McQueen), the daughter of a Norman lord who quickly takes a liking to the rebellious young lad. Together, with their suffering civilians by their side, Rob and Marian become two of the most feared and unknown outlaws their town has ever known.

In addition to the lengthy trailer, MGM+ has also dropped a slew of first-look images that capture the action, heartbreak, and drama that await audiences when Robin Hood finally arrives on the streamer on November 2. Several shots tease McQueen’s connection to Bean’s villainous Sheriff of Nottingham, while others showcase Rob leading the fight against his people’s violent oppressors. There are also a handful that tease the slow-burning romance between Rob and Marian, because what’s more romantic than stirring the pot of revolution?
