Spider-Man: Brand New Day just added an Into the Spider-Verse icon to its cast. News broke this afternoon that Marvin Jones III will star in Spider-Man 4 as Tombstone. He previously voiced the character in the first Spider-Verse movie. He joins the previously cast Michael Mando, who will finally get the chance to play Scorpion in the MCU in more than just a post-credit scene. Spider-Man has an impressive rogues’ gallery, arguably as strong as any superhero ever, and it appears Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is going to face quite a few foes in his fourth solo Spider-Man outing.
It’s safe to assume that Holland’s Spider-Man is going to face off against several villains, but other casting news confirms that he’s going to have some help on the streets of New York. Jon Bernthal is reportedly going to reprise his role as The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, along with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk. There have been rumors flying around that Peter Parker and Frank Castle are going to team up to face an evil Hulk, but there has been no confirmation of this. Ruffalo’s Hulk could provide a helping hand against part of the Sinister Six.
A few Spider-Man regulars are returning in Brand New Day, including the duo who play Peter’s best friend and girlfriend, Jacob Batalon and Zendaya. Zendaya is also in the middle of shooting Dune: Part Three, and Euphoria, so her role in the fourth Spider-Man movie is expected to be smaller. Stranger Things veteran Sadie Sink has also been cast in an undisclosed role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. There is no word on whether Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire will have a role.
Is Spider-Man in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
Tom Holland’s name has been left off previously announced Avengers: Doomsday casting lists, but it’s expected that he will have a role in the film. Marvel is assumingly keeping the involvement of plenty of heroes under wraps to allow for some surprises when the film hits theaters next December. Still, when the first round of Doomsday casting was announced earlier this year, there were some shocking inclusions. Fans were stunned to learn that original Fox X-Men veterans James Marsden and Patrick Stewart would star in the film, along with Deadpool & Wolverine veteran Channing Tatum. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is also confirmed to be in Doomsday, and he’s expected to be one of the leads.
