Another meeting of The Marlow Murder Club has been called to order. Filming has wrapped on Season 3 of the hit cozy mystery series, and PBS Masterpiece is celebrating by sharing the first images, featuring the titular trio of Judith Potts (Samantha Bond), Suzie Harris (Jo Martin), and Becks Starling (Cara Horgan) and their law enforcement ally, DI Tanika Malik (Natalie Dew), alongside some fresh faces. A new round of killings has taken place in Buckinghamshire, and there are plenty of new suspects to investigate this time around, including Doctor Who‘s fifth doctor, Peter Davison. He’s one of several prominent guests just announced to appear in the six new episodes coming next year.
After two seasons of the trio putting their unconventional detective skills to work and braving danger to aid local investigations, Robert Thorogood will adapt the third book in his series, The Queen of Poisons, for Season 3. The novel sees Marlow rocked by the sudden death of Mayor Geoffrey Lushington after he collapses in the middle of a town meeting, with traces of Aconite, the queen of poisons, uncovered in his coffee. That’s just one of three high-profile deaths The Marlow Murder Club will be tasked with solving as part of the freshly-promoted Malik’s team of civilian advisors. Another case will see them searching for answers after a celebrity chef dies during his big cookbook launch, which most of the town is attending. Their most trying investigation, however, may be their visit to an eerie manor house, where Becks becomes one of the top suspects, threatening the trio’s standing in Marlow.
The selection of images showcases the new crime-fighting group under Malik, intertwining Judith, Suzie, and Becks with the police more than ever this season. However, even more prominently featured are the new guests. Davison, fresh off the Paramount+ true-crime docudrama The Gold, is seen playing the hardworking Mayor Lushington, who has a reputation as the nicest man in Marlow. Playing the ill-fated chef Ferdy, meanwhile, is Andor‘s Perrin Fertha, Alastair Mackenzie, seen dressed for the kitchen and ready to cook. Joining Davison in Episodes 1 and 2 will be Jacqueline Boatswain, Sarah Alexander, Tony Gardner, and Jason Merrells, while English comedy icon Harry Enfield appears in Episodes 3 and 4, and Adrian Lukis and Cherie Lunghi appear with Mackenzie in the final two episodes.
Who Else Worked on Season 3 of ‘The Marlow Murder Club’?
Rounding out the Season 3 cast will be a returning guest from Season 2 in Hugh Quarshie as Professor Darius Gifford, alongside three of Tanika Malik’s fellow officers, Phill Langhorne, Holli Dempsey, and Tijan Sarr. On the creative side, Thorogood co-wrote the first two episodes with series newcomer Daniel Rusteau, while Amy Reith penned Episodes 3 and 4, and Julia Gilbert tackled the last two episodes. The team’s last outing was lauded by critics, earning the whodunnit series an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. Collider‘s Maggie Boccella gave Season 2 an 8/10 in her review, praising the cast and hailing The Marlow Murder Club as “perfect for someone who needs something to watch but is uninterested in the more fast-paced, darker series most streamers have to offer.”
The Marlow Murder Club returns for Season 3 on Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS in 2026. In the meantime, Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now through PBS and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video. Check out the first images in the gallery above.
