‘Peaky Blinders’ Sequel Series is in the Works!!

By order of BBC and Netflix, the much-loved series Peaky Blinders is officially returning with not one, but two brand-new sequel shows. Netflix and the BBC announced today that creator Steven Knight is expanding the saga with two 6-episode seasons that will continue the Shelby family story. The follow-up shows will film at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, where the original series was based. The sequel will pick up after the events of the upcoming feature film, The Immortal Man, which recently wrapped production. The logline sets the stage in post-war Britain:

“Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger, with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

The series will be produced by Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders Seasons 1–6 and the upcoming film). Executive producers include Cillian Murphy, Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Jamie Glazebrook, and Jo McClellan. Mona Qureshi and Toby Bentley will oversee for Netflix.

Knight said of the new era for the Brummie bandits:

“I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”

Netflix’s Mona Qureshi added:

“We couldn’t be more excited to be embarking on a new chapter of Peaky Blinders with our wonderful partners at Kudos, Garrison Drama and the BBC. There are few modern storytellers to match Steven Knight and we will be on the edge of our seats as he returns to the streets of Birmingham and to the next generation of the Shelby family.”

BBC Drama director Lindsay Salt also weighed in:

“This game-changing show made a huge impact when it first came to our screens 12 years ago and it is one of the BBC’s most-loved dramas. Steven has worked his magic once again and I can’t wait for his scripts to be brought to life when filming begins in Birmingham.”

What’s Happening With the Peaky Blinders Movie?

Alongside the series announcement, fans recently got a promising update on The Immortal Man, the long-awaited movie that should wrap up the Shelby story as we know it now. The film stars Murphy as Tommy Shelby and wrapped shooting late last year, though its release date has yet to be set. Plot specifics are being kept under wraps, but reports suggest Tommy finds himself in the middle of a dangerous wartime mission back home in Birmingham. The cast includes Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth. Knight recently teased:

“There’ll be an announcement relatively soon, and I can tell you that it’s really, really brilliant.”

While no release date has been announced, a 2026 premiere seems likely, by order of the Peaky Blinders.
