‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ Set for Theatrical Re-Release for 25th Anniversary!!

In 2026, the wizarding world is heading back to where the magic began. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will mark its 25th anniversary, celebrating a quarter-century since the film first enchanted audiences and sparked one of the most successful franchises in cinematic history.

Originally released on November 16, 2001, Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone… don’t ask) introduced audiences to Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the world of Hogwarts, launching a cultural phenomenon that has since grown into a multi-billion-dollar global brand. Now, Warner Bros. has announced a full year of magical festivities to honor the milestone.

At the center of the celebration is a newly designed 25th Anniversary logo, inspired by the silvery glow of the Patronus charm, which will appear across new and existing product lines, retail activations, and fan-focused campaigns.

While Warner Bros. is keeping some surprises under wraps, highlights of the anniversary include:

  • Global theatrical re-releases of Philosopher’s Stone for fans to experience the magic on the big screen once again
  • Special edition products and collectibles tied to the 25-year milestone
  • Retail promotions and activations across key global markets
  • Fan-focused events, both digital and in-person, celebrating beloved franchise moments like Butterbeer Season (March–May), Harry Potter’s Birthday (July), Back to Hogwarts (August–September), and of course, Christmas in the wizarding world

How Successful Is Harry Potter?

The numbers behind the franchise remain staggering: over 600 million books sold in more than 85 languages, $7.7 billion in worldwide box office from the original eight films and three Fantastic Beasts spinoffs (we forgot about those, we can’t lie), plus the global success of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on stage, mobile and console games, and immersive experiences across Universal theme parks and Wizarding World destinations.

Perhaps most exciting for longtime fans and newcomers alike, this anniversary celebration will also pave the way for the next chapter of magic: the highly anticipated Harry Potter HBO Original TV series, premiering in 2027, which is currently shooting in and around London as we speak. From the re-release of the film that started it all to a year packed with magical events, 2026 will remind fans everywhere why Harry Potter has remained one of the most beloved franchises in entertainment history.

So, in 2026, accio your broomsticks once more and prepare to return to Hogwarts with a lot more added maggie.
