Following a bout of controversy over the last week with Taylor Swift following the release of her new album, Charli XCX’s new movie from A24 just got a thrilling update. Late last year, it was confirmed that Charli XCX would star in a new film, but details have been held under wraps until today. Now, A24 has partnered with Charli XCX, who posted a teaser promoting the movie on her personal Instagram that also unveils its star-studded cast. Leading the names in the ensemble is Alexander Skarsgård, and joining him and XCX in the film are Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Kylie Jenner, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rachel Sennott, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workeye, Shygirl, and A.G. Cook.
Plot specifics about the film are being kept under wraps, and the newly-released teaser serves only to introduce the cast and title, not show any footage from the movie. While A24 declined to announce an official release date, the studio does confirm that it’s coming out sometime in 2026. The aforementioned A.G. Cook is Charlie XCX’s long-time record producer, who will also handle all the music for the film. The only released synopsis for the film reads as follows: “A rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.” Aidan Zamiri is writing and directing The Moment, with Bertie Brandes also contributing to the script. It’s based on an original idea by Charli XCX.
What Movies Has A24 Come Out With Lately?
Some recent releases from A24 include The Smashing Machine and Highest 2 Lowest. The former is an MMA biopic starring Dwayne Johnson that details the life and career of famous UFC fighter Mark Kerr. The latter is a crime thriller remake of the Akira Kurosawa classic, High and Low, and it stars Denzel Washington.
A24 also has some other exciting projects on the slate this year, but perhaps none with as much juice behind them as Marty Supreme. The ping pong biopic starring Timothée Chalamet will be released on Christmas Day, and after a surprise premiere at the New York Film Festival, it’s already earning rave reviews. The Moment star Alexander Skarsgård will also work on another A24 film, Pillion, which is coming to theaters in February 2026.
