Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is venturing into the unknown once more for its fourth and penultimate season. The Paramount+ series debuted a first look at the upcoming season at New York Comic Con today. It is set to premiere in 2026, marking the 60th anniversary of the venerable science fiction franchise, ahead of the show’s fifth and final season.
In the new clip, the Enterprise is observing a roiling stellar storm, making Anson Mount‘s Captain Christopher Pike wistful about his dwindling time as captain; like most Star Trek fans, Pike is now aware of his eventual fate. However, their mission of discovery soon turns into a rescue mission, as they detect a distress call from the heart of the storm. As they attempt to mount a rescue, however, they find themselves trapped in a strange region of space, with the ship almost completely disabled. In desperate need of iridium, La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) and Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) take a shuttle to a nearby planet on a supply run. What mysteries await them there? You’ll have to tune into Paramount+ when season four of Strange New Worlds premieres next year.
What Happened in Season Three of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’?
The season began where season two left off, with the Enterprise under siege from the merciless, reptilian Gorn aliens, and Pike’s lover, Marie Batel (Melanie Scrofano) lethally infected with a Gorn embryo. The ship escaped the Gorn, and Batel was nursed back to health, but not without a price; the presence of the Gorn still lingered within her. Over the course of the rest of the season, the crew encountered godlike entities, Klingon zombies, and spacefaring scavengers, and experimented with holodeck technology. The crew also encountered one of their deadliest new enemies: the Vezda, an immeasurably ancient and evil race of aliens. After one of the Vezda, Zeperez, slew an Enterprise crew member and took over his body earlier in the season, it returned for the season finale, and nearly released its trapped brethren to menace the galaxy anew. Batel sacrificed herself to keep the aliens imprisoned forever, but not before letting Pike live out the life they could have led together.
Paramount also shared a behind-the-scenes featurette on the costumes of season three. Highlights include the costumes for Christine Chapel and Roger Korby’s faux wedding in “Wedding Bell Blues,” which featured a dress for Chapel (Jess Bush) designed by Grace Lillian Lee, an Indigenous Australian artisan; the Vulcan costumes from “Four and a Half Vulcans,” which were inspired by Star Trek III: The Search for Spock; and the retro jumpsuits of “A Space Adventure Hour.”
Season four of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in 2026.
