‘The Granville Girls’: Netflix to Adapt Historical Romance Series ‘The Gilbert Girls’!!

Bridgerton will air its fourth season early next year, but even with two more full seasons of the show already confirmed to be on the way, it seems Netflix has already found a suitable replacement for the hit historical romance drama. The streamer has greenlit a new eight-episode series titled The Granville Girls, based on Cat Cahill‘s book series, The Gilbert Girls. It’s unclear how involved Cahill is in the new show, but Adriana Maggs will write and showrun the series for Netflix. No word yet on casting or when the show will be released.

Cahill’s historical romance book takes place in rural Colorado, but Netflix plans to film The Granville Girls in the Canadian Rockies. Netflix co-directors of content in Canada Danielle Woodrow and Tara Woodbury released an official statement on the show’s greenlighting: “The Granville Girls is a big, blue-sky series that offers the comfort of female friendship and the allure of period romance. Between Adriana’s distinctive voice and Christina’s powerhouse producing, we’re confident that audiences are going to be hooked from the first episode.” Cat Cahill has written six Gilbert Girls novels, so the potential for multiple seasons of The Granville Girls is definitely there.

Netflix describes The Granville Girls as follows: “As the great railway sweeps across the Canadian Rockies, Emma Daniels becomes a ‘Granville Girl,’ one of a select few women hired to work at the Granville Hotel. The job offers adventure, friendship, and a chance to support her family — if she can resist the hotel’s strictest rule: never fraternize with the men. But, when Emma’s heart is captured by the hotel’s mysterious builder, she faces a choice that could cost her everything.”

When Does the Next Season of ‘Bridgerton’ Come Out?

Netflix has announced that Bridgerton Season 4 will premiere on the platform on January 29. The premiere will include the first four episodes, and the final four installments will follow roughly one month later, on February 26. Netflix subscribers have become accustomed to this model of releasing series in parts; even the final season of Stranger Things will premiere episodes in three different batches. Bridgerton has also been greenlit for Seasons 5 and 6, but it’s unclear when they will be released. Based on the series’ previous timelines, a gap of around two years between seasons is most likely.
