‘Sinners’ Returning to IMAX Theaters for Halloween!!

One of the best horror movies ever made is coming back to theaters for Halloween. Warner Bros. has officially announced that Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler, will return to theaters from October 30 to November 5. The only catch is that Coogler’s critically acclaimed horror hit is only coming to select IMAX screens, and not to all screens worldwide. Still, the film will have a chance to build on its current $366 million box office total, which is already enough to make it one of the highest-grossing horror movies of all time.

Sinners is being eyed as a heavy contender at the 2026 Academy Awards, with nominations likely coming for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Lead Actor. It would also not be surprising to see it earn other nominations and even take home some wins. The film currently sits at nearly flawless scores of 97% from critics and 96% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-reviewed movie to be released so widely in theaters this year. In addition to Michael B. Jordan, Sinners also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Miles Caton, Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, and Li Jun Li.

Sinners’ success story continued long after the film left theaters. Following an extremely successful and long-lasting theatrical run, it began streaming on HBO Max on July 4. It spent weeks atop streaming charts, and it’s still one of the most popular movies on HBO Max globally, more than three months after its streaming premiere. There have been whispers of another project set in the Sinners universe, potentially a prequel, but Coogler has put these rumors to bed. The writer/director has confirmed that it’s designed to exist as a solo project.

When Does Ryan Coogler’s Next Movie Come Out?

It’s unclear at this time when Ryan Coogler’s next project is going to be released, or even what his next project will be. Coogler is in the middle of writing an X-Files reboot project, and he’s also attached to write and direct a third Black Panther movie at Marvel, one with Denzel Washington rumored to star. Coogler will also continue his work with Michael B. Jordan as an executive producer on a fourth Creed movie. At the time of writing, it seems likely that Coogler’s next project will be his X-Files reboot.
