What happens in the Pluribus trailer?

Why is Carol so unhappy? That’s the crux of the issue in Pluribus, a genre-bending original series. A voiceover states in the trailer, “Is there anything we can do to cheer you up?”

Despite everyone’s efforts to cheer her up, Carol remains dejected and tries to reverse the world of happiness. Conversely, the world wants to figure out what’s wrong with Carol so she can join them in their euphoric state.

Pluribus has been very deceptive in its promotional rollout, revealing few plot details in the teasers. Even this trailer is vague in describing the mystery at the heart of the show.

Joining Seehorn in the Pluribus cast are Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete) and Carlos-Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601). Guest stars include Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death).

Pluribus hails from Gilligan, the Emmy-winning writer and director best known for creating Breaking Bad. Gilligan later co-created Better Call Saul, a Breaking Bad spin-off that featured Seehorn and Bob Odenkirk.

Pluribus is executive produced by Gilligan, Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski, and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy serve as co-executive producers. Gilligan developed Pluribus with Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV.

Pluribus received a two-season order from Apple. Season 1 consists of nine episodes, with the first two debuting on Friday, November 7, 2025. New episodes will then be released on Apple TV every Friday through December 26.
