
Finding Frankie videogame fans, buckle up, as another parkour game is afoot, but this time on the big screen. Mortal Kombat producer, Sean Robins, is set to bring the iconic game to the theaters, according to a new report. Steven C. Miller, whose credits include Silent Night, Line of Duty, and more, is set to direct the project backed by 13 Films and So It Goes Entertainment.
Finding Frankie is a thrilling game with a horror setup where players are put in the shoes of one of four contestants on a twisted game show at a huge trampoline park. As the players race through the neon-lit parkour course, they are hunted by the park’s mascots: Henry Hotline, Frankie, and Deputy Duck. While little is known about the premise and the topline talent, the screenplay is written by Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert. It’s described as “blending the thrilling intensity of Squid Game with the haunting atmosphere of Five Nights at Freddy’s.”
What To Expect From ‘Finding Frankie’
Along with thrill and horror vibes, “Finding Frankie is a wild mix of tension, heart, and world-building that feels tailor-made for film,” said Robins, who has titles like Mortal Kombat, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, and The Last Castle under his belt. The producer further assures fans that the team behind the scenes is “building something unique, a survival story with soul that takes the viewer on a harrowing adventure they won’t forget.” The company behind the original video game, SUPERLOU Games, revealed in a statement that a movie adaptation was “something none of us had ever really considered.” Adding,
“But when the opportunity came up, we all realized this story and these characters don’t just work in games, they belong on the big screen! Content creators and fans have been eager to see the story of Finding Frankie continue and discover what happens next in this twisted parkour game show.”
The past few years have been great for video game adaptations, from successful series like The Last of Us and Twisted Metal to features like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s, A Minecraft Movie, and more have opened a new avenue for the adaptation of fan favorite games, earning millions at the box office. Gone are the days of the “video game adaptation curse,” and fans are in for a fun ride with new adaptations and sequels on the way.
