Fans of British detective shows rejoice, yet another exciting series is coming your way very soon. The buddy-cop genre is getting its freshest pair of mismatched crime-solvers in Cooper & Fry​​​​​, an upcoming series scheduled to air on Channel 5 in the UK. The series is to be led by stars from two of Britain’s biggest small-screen franchises, with Downton Abbey‘s Rob James-Collier and former Doctor Who star Mandip Gill tackling the titular roles as DC Ben Cooper (James-Collier) and DC Diane Fry (Gill).

Ahead of the show’s release, scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, in the UK, first-look images have finally been revealed and are available below. Showcasing Gill and James-Collier in typical detective get-up, the images also introduce audiences to the show’s gorgeous British backdrop of the Peak District. Consisting of four two-hour episodes, each will adapt a novel ​​​​​​from the bestselling series by author Stephen Booth, focusing on the first four novels: Black Dog, Dying to Sin, Blind to the Bones, and Dancing with the Virgins. Deputy chief content officer and head of scripted at Paramount UK, Sebastian Cardwell, said of the series:

What Is ‘Cooper & Fry’ About?

As lovers of the novel will know, Cooper & Fry promises plenty of twists and turns and a central duo with a quirky relationship sure to keep viewers gripped. But for those uninitiated with the source material, what is the series about? “Set in the mystery-shrouded Peak District, DC Ben Cooper, an affable local, is thrown together with guarded newcomer DC Diane Fry, to investigate a string of mysterious deaths,” the synopsis reads. It continues, “They must learn to work together to get results. As their personal lives begin to intertwine, a unique friendship begins to form… but it won’t always be easy.”
