‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 Teases Promises an Explosive Return for Tom Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine!! Check It Out!!

After a grueling 9 year wait, we have finally gotten our best look yet at Tom Hiddleston‘s Jonathan Pine’s highly anticipated return in the first teaser trailer for The Night Manager Season 2. After witnessing his evolution from a hotel manager into a British intelligence operative, the 30-second teaser offers but a glimpse of what’s in store for Pine’s most daring mission yet. Hiddleston will be joined by his fellow Season 1 star, Oscar-winner Olivia Colman. While Colman does not make an appearance in the trailer, we do get to see a new glimpse of a brand-new cast member for Season 2 with Game of Thrones alum, Indira Varma.

The bulk of the teaser has Hiddleston‘s Jonathan Pine being the subject of a Casino Royale-esque interview. Since the teaser is less than a minute long, it doesn’t take long before we’re thrust into all sorts of super spy shenanigans, with some of the action-packed globe-trotting sequences of Pine being abducted by militia members, engaging in a high-speed pursuit on a motorcycle, and, of course, running away from an explosion. It’s a lot of pressure for even the most experienced intelligence officer, but the trailer ends with Pine reassuring his interviewer that he is “the man who will not explode.”

‘The Night Manager’ Makes an Excellent Case for Tom Hiddleston as the Next James Bond

A thrilling story about a British spy is inevitably going to draw comparisons to the James Bond series, and Hiddleston‘s name has been thrown around as a possible successor to Daniel Craig‘s 007 even before The Night Manager‘s release. Amazon‘s search for the next legendary superspy to star in Denis Villeneuve and Steven Knight‘s upcoming movie is still ongoing, and while Amazon is reportedly looking for a younger, unknown actor to play the part, several fan-favorite picks over the years have included Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, and many more. Hiddleston himself has been asked about playing Bond on more than one occasion over the years, and while he’s never outright confirmed he’s in the running, he’s also said it would be an “extraordinary opportunity” to play the character, speaking to The Sunday Times in 2016.

The BBC has not yet announced an official release date for The Night Manager Season 2, though a late-2025 or 2026 release seems likely. If it’s the latter, that means Hiddleston is about to have a massive year in 2026, as he’s also set to reprise his fan-favorite role as Loki in the upcoming MCU mega event, Avengers: Doomsday. Hiddleston and Coleman also aren’t the only Season 1 cast members returning for Season 2, including Alistair Petrie (Andor), Michael Nardone (Napoleon), Douglas Hodge (The Great), and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place). As for new cast members, along with Indira Varma, other new faces include Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six), Hayley Squires (Beau Is Afraid), Paul Chahidi (Death of Stalin), and Diego Calva (Babylon).

While Season 2 is still awaiting a release date, Season 1 is now available to stream on Prime Video.
