If you’re looking for a new fantasy series, look no further than The Wayfinders! The new teen-centric series is directed by Smallville, Arrow, and The Flash director Glen Winter and is created by Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin. The series also has The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, Hans Rodionoff, and Justin Partridge also writing on the series, which is set to premiere on Angel Studios‘ streamer on December 16, airing weekly until mid-January. Today, Collider is thrilled to exclusively unveil a first look at the new trailer for the series.
Goldberg is known for his comedy, and Winter is known for his superhero shows, so the two working in tandem for a show like The Wayfinders is exciting. More than that, getting to see a new original series focused on “magic, monsters,” and more is an absolute treat as we head into the winter months. It really feels like we’re back in the golden age of teen-centric fantasy stories like Willow and The Magicians. The new trailer reveals how our central trio of high school students is suddenly thrown into a fantastical world where they’re heralded as the titular Wayfinders and saviors of that universe.
The series is described as follows: “When three high schoolers are mysteriously transported to a fantasy world, they find themselves caught in a battle for survival. With magic, monsters, and unexpected allies—including a fierce princess and a teenage werebear—the teens must navigate this strange new land. As they search for a way home, they discover hidden strengths and face challenges that will test their courage like never before.” Friendships, princesses, and more? We’re sold.
Angel Studios Has Some Great Programming for Younger Kids
Angel Studios has been home to many shows and films that have had a lot of support behind them. Their series, The Wingfeather Saga, was one of the first ever completely crowd-funded series. Based on a popular book series, the show has found its own fandom with Angel Studios. Now, the show is getting ready to premiere its third season, with Season 4 and Season 5 already confirmed. This is promising for a new series like The Wayfinders. With even Netflix‘s Stranger Things winding down this year, we have lost the art of sci-fi/fantasy shows geared towards younger audiences, and so it will be exciting for fans to see what The Wayfinders has in store for us all!
You can see the first two episodes of The Wayfinders when they premiere on December 16 and continue airing weekly until January 13, 2026!
