‘The Lady’: First Images Sees Natalie Dormer Transform into Sarah Ferguson!! Check It Out!!

Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer is a hugely popular actress, with her performance as Margaery Tyrell in the acclaimed HBO series even earning a Best Supporting Actress award at the 2013 Emmy Awards. Almost a decade since her last appearance in the series, Dormer is joining rising star Mia McKenna-Bruce (How To Have Sex) in ITV‘s new The Crown replacement, The Lady, alongside Star Trek: Picard‘s Ed Speleers.

Ahead of the series’ debut next year, the first-look images below have been revealed, showcasing Speleers, McKenna-Bruce, and Dormer in action as Tommy Cressman, Jane Andrews, and Sarah Ferguson, respectively. The rest of the drama’s stacked ensemble includes Philip Glenister, Claire Skinner, Laura Aikman, Ophelia Lovibond, Mark Stanley, Daniel Ryan, and Sean Teale, with Debbie O’Malley penning the series based on real-life royal drama. A synopsis for The Lady reads:

“Moving amongst the highest social circles in Britain, Jane managed to secure a place amongst the upper-classes in the Duchess of York’s office, only to lose her job after nine years of service.Still reeling from her fall from grace, Jane went on to meet charismatic businessman Thomas Cressman and fell deeply in love. But soon cracks began to develop in the romance Jane had pinned all her hopes on, with disastrous consequences.”

In a previous statement about the upcoming series, O’Malley said:

“When Jane Andrews was tried for the murder of Thomas Cressman in 2001 it made headlines around the world. But behind those headlines, lay a much more complex, painful and thought-provoking story – an exploration of female ambition and human frailty and a devastating chain of events that ended in the taking of a man’s life. And this story, tied up with our national preoccupation with class and our ongoing obsession with the Royal family, feels every bit as relevant now as it did 20 years ago.”

Natalie Dormer Was in the MCU

There’s no questioning that Dormer‘s turn as Margaery Tyrell was her breakout performance on the world stage, but her first notable role was as Anne Boleyn in the historical series The Tudors. However, between these roles, Dormer joined the MCU line-up as Private Lorraine in Captain America: The First Avenger. You can catch Dormer‘s turn in the MCU flick right now on Disney+.

The Lady is expected to debut on ITV next year.
