The doors of Split River High are about to swing wide open, where the veil between the living and the dead will become slimmer and slimmer in the third season of School Spirits. Today, as part of Paramount+’s CCXP Brazil panel, it was announced that the series will officially return to screens on January 28. But that’s not all. In addition to the exciting reveal that more mysteries are just a few weeks away, the good folks behind the hit teen production also unleashed a teaser showcasing some of the spirited drama that will unfold over the next several episodes.
For starters, it looks like Peyton List’s Maddie Nears will be having her worst year ever, which is absolutely saying something considering what the show’s leading character has been through during the first two seasons. In the teaser, we see her falling backwards into a void, calling out to her friends with nothing but echoes answering her cries. We then cut to Maddie opening a door and looking through it, with the rest of the show’s primary characters living out their own hellish existences in nightmarish situations before the teaser fades to black. The intrigue!
Thankfully, Season 3 will see Maddie back in her body, but after that cliffhanger of a Season 2 finale, there are so many questions that need to be answered. For starters, did Wally (Milo Manheim) make the jump into a neatly closed ending to his walk through the afterlife? Or did he decide to stick around? And then there’s Simon (Kristian Ventura) who, when we last saw him, was wandering around inside Mr. Martin’s (Josh Zuckerman) scar. From the provided synopsis, it sounds like Simon’s journey through the secrets of Split River High is just getting started, and it might be one that he pulls the rest of the group into — whether they like it or not.
A New Roster Awaits Audiences
Along with the returning talents the audience has come to know from the first two seasons of School Spirits, the third batch of episodes promises plenty of intrigue through new characters. For starters, Chucky alum and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Jennifer Tilly, joins the cast as Dr. Hunter-Price, with Ari Dalbert (Inhumans) and Erika Swayze (Davey & Jonesie’s Locker) stepping into the roles of Kyle and Livia, respectively. The recurring guests coming back for another go around include the likes of Maria Dizzia (My Old Ass), Patrick Gilmore (Travelers), Alex Zahara (The Man in the High Castle), Ian Tracey (Intelligence), Jess Gabor (Shameless) and Zack Calderon (The Afterparty).
Check out the first look teaser for Season 3 of School Spirits above and tune into Paramount+ on January 28 for the debut episode.
