‘Ponies’ Trailer Sees Emilia Clarke & Haley Lu Richardson Go Undercover!! Check It Out!!

Game of Thrones icon Emilia Clarke is due to star in a new Peacock series that just got an exciting new look. Peacock has released the first official trailer for Ponies, her new show that will premiere on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The streamer has yet to announce if all episodes of Ponies will be released at once, or if the show will premiere new episodes weekly. Haley Lu Richardson stars alongside Clarke in the new espionage series, which follows two secretaries in the American embassy who become CIA operatives after their spouses are killed.

Peacock has released an official synopsis for Ponies, which reads as follows: “Moscow, 1977. Two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.”

Ponies was written and created for TV by David Iserson, who also showruns and executive produces the show along with Susanna Fogel. Mike Daniels and Jessica Rhoades are also serving as producers, along with leading star Emilia Clarke. Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis will also star in recurring roles. The show will consist of eight episodes, all around 60 minutes, and it’s unclear at this time if it will receive a second season.

What Else Is Emilia Clarke Known For?

Ponies star Emilia Clarke is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, the hit HBO series based on George R.R. Martin’s novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire. She made her MCU debut a few years ago in Secret Invasion, but after the show was received poorly by critics and fans alike, any plans for her in the future may well have been scrapped. Clarke also has her hand in the Star Wars universe, where she appeared as Qi’ra in the spin-off film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and she even starred as a young Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys.
