‘Mamma Mia! 3’: Pierce Brosnan Provides Most Promising Update Yet!!

It’s been eight long years since Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again danced into theaters, but fans have never stopped asking the same question: when are we going back to Greece? Now, thanks to a very encouraging update from Pierce Brosnan, the answer might finally be: soon.

Speaking to Magic Radio, Brosnan — who plays Sam Carmichael in the ABBA-powered musical franchise — revealed that he recently went out to dinner with producer Judy Craymer, and yes, they talked story. That alone feels like a major step forward.

“Well, Judy Craymer and I had a dinner the other night — and, yes, we talked story. We talked about the possibilities of where the characters would go. The studio wants it, I believe every man and woman would jump at the chance to do number three.”

In other words: the interest is there, the conversations are happening, and the door is very much open. Brosnan didn’t stop there, making it clear that he’s more than ready to slip back into Sam’s linen shirts and questionable singing voice. “I want to do it, I believe my colleagues would like to do it,” he added. “I shall step forth and bring us all together.”

Will Mamma Mia! 3 Come Out?

While nothing has been officially greenlit yet, this is far from the first time the cast and creators have hinted that a third film is inevitable. Producer Judy Craymer has repeatedly described the franchise as a planned trilogy, and earlier this year she flat-out said, “It will happen,” even if it’s still in development.

Other cast members have echoed that confidence. Amanda Seyfried confirmed in September that the cast has effectively said yes, noting that the biggest hurdle is studio timing. Christine Baranski previously revealed that Craymer has already walked her through the story. Even Meryl Streep has said she’s open to returning as Donna if the script feels right — and yes, the creative team has ideas for how that could work.

Plus, celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter and Sydney Sweeney have been outspoken in their admiration for the series and are practically begging to be involved. When you have superstars courting you, it’s safe to think to yourself – here we go, again!
