The guests have begun to arrive for the next season of The White Lotus. Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka are the first two officially announced cast members for the fourth season of the acclaimed HBO drama. The series is likely to begin filming in France in spring 2026. According to reports, Ludwig and Michalka are the first official guests to join Mike White‘s anthology drama series. However, this week it was reported that Helena Bonham Carter is also in talks for a role on the series, which has historically been a solid bet to pick up a handful of nominations come Emmy time.
So far, any details regarding the new season have been sparse; like its predecessors, it will take place at a luxury resort operated by the fictional White Lotus corporation. The season will follow a week in the life of an eclectic mix of guests and staff members…at least one of whom likely won’t survive their stay, as has happened in all three previous seasons, which were set in Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand, respectively.
Who Are Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka?
Ludwig is a Canadian actor who first broke out as a teenager with roles in The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising, Race to Witch Mountain, and The Hunger Games. He has subsequently had lead roles on the series Vikings, Heels, and Earth Abides. He can next be seen in the romantic fantasy film Shiver, the apocalyptic horror film Night Comes, and the comedy What the F*ck Is My Password? Michalka is best known for playing Lainey Lewis on The Goldbergs; she also starred in the Goldbergs spin-off Schooled for two seasons. Michalka has also lent her voice to the animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, playing the feline Catra, and Steven Universe, voicing Stevonnie, the merged form of the title character and his best friend Connie. She is also a musician, performing in the duo Aly and AJ with older sister Aly Michalka.
Over the course of three acclaimed seasons, The White Lotus has racked up 66 Emmy nominations and 16 wins; actors Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge (twice) have walked away with awards, while cast members like Alexandra Daddario, Sydney Sweeney, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Walton Goggins, and Carrie Coon have received nominations.
Season 4 of The White Lotus is likely to begin production in France in spring 2026.
