‘The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender’: Upcoming ‘The Last Airbender’ Animated Movie Moves to Paramount+!!

The Gaang’s all here! Paramount+ will be officially expanding the Avatar Universe with two upcoming projects on the platform. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Seven Havens. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender was originally slated for theatrical release, but now Paramount+ reports that the film will premiere exclusively in the Fall of 2026. In addition to the previously announced case: Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dionne Quan, Román Zaragoza and Steven Yeun, Paramount+ says Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Freida Pinto and Ke Huy Quan will be joining the feature-length film. The logline for The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is:

“Avatar Aang, the world’s last Airbender, learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.”

A New Avatar Is Also Coming to Paramount+

After Avatar Aang, came Korra, who was in so many ways different from Aang. In The Legend of Korra, she lost her spiritual connection to previous Avatars but reopened the ports between the spiritual and physical world at large. The change also created new Airbenders, bringing the Air Nation back to life, fulfilling a dream of Aang’s. But of course, even with that, Korra’s journey would eventually end. As is with the Avatar cycle, the next Nation to have an Avatar is the Earth Nation. That’s where Avatar: Seven Havens comes in. The series will consist of Book 1 with 13 half-hour episodes and Book 2, also with 13 half-hour episodes. Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will serve as co-creators and executive producers. Ethan Spaulding is an executive producer, and Sehaj Sethi is a co-executive producer.

The logline for Avatar: Seven Havens is as follows:

“Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, a young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra—but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+ says that both projects “represent the next evolution of storytelling from Avatar Studios—bringing together remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera to deliver the epic adventures and emotional depth fans have come to expect. These additions, alongside The Legend of Korra and the original series, solidify Paramount+ as the destination for the animated Avatar Universe.”

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will premiere in Fall 2026. Avatar: Seven Havens does not yet have a release date.
