‘Ocean’s 14’: George Clooney Confirms Who’s Returning & When the Filming Starts!!

More than two decades later, Steven Soderbergh’s original Ocean’s trilogy still feels almost unreal on rewatch — a slick, star-loaded run of studio filmmaking that somehow convinced half of Hollywood to show up, look cool, and not trip over each other’s egos. And now, just as fans are rediscovering those movies for free, George Clooney is officially gearing up to bring the crew back together.

But this time, Clooney isn’t interested in nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. Instead, he wants to explore what a heist looks like when you’re no longer young, fast, or invincible — but still smart enough to know how to win.

“There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me. They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.”

The concept was inspired by Going in Style, the 1970s comedy about aging criminals pulling one last job, and Clooney has already lined up the core crew. Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, and Don Cheadle are all set to return, with locations currently being scouted and production eyed for October of next year.

When Will Ocean’s 14 Start Filming?

Clooney recently confirmed the project’s momentum while speaking with E! News, noting that the biggest hurdle now is scheduling.

“We got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to get it set up. It’s just scheduling, so it’s setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting. [I’m looking forward to working with] Brad, Matt, Don, and Julia. I had dinner with Julia last night. They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be so fun.”

Clooney’s vision for Ocean’s 14 fits perfectly with where the cast — and the audience — are now. These characters don’t need to prove they’re the fastest guys in the room anymore. They just need to prove they’re still the smartest.

Off-screen, Clooney says he’s happier than ever, maintaining close friendships and even competitive daily Wordle battles with Damon — a group chat he’s dubbed “Nerdle.” Damon, for the record, admits Clooney is “frustratingly good at it.”

If Ocean’s 14 captures even a fraction of that real-life chemistry, fans could be in for something special.
