‘Game of Thrones’: Sophie Turner Open to Return Following George R.R. Martin Sequel Announcement!!

Sansa Stark’s story may have ended with her crowned Queen in the North, but Sophie Turner isn’t completely ruling out a return to Westeros. Following George R.R. Martin’s recent confirmation that HBO has “five or six” Game of Thrones projects in development — including some sequelsTurner addressed the possibility of reprising her role during a new interview while promoting Amazon Prime Video’s Steal.

When asked directly how interested she’d be in returning as Sansa Stark in a sequel series, Turner didn’t dodge the question — but she didn’t give a definitive yes either.

“Show me the money (laughs). I don’t know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it.”

Turner went on to explain that, unlike many of her former co-stars, she was actually satisfied with how her character’s arc concluded at the end of the divisive eighth season. Sansa didn’t end up dead, in a wheelchair, banished beyond the Wall, or, well, loathed by fans by the time the series came to and end. So clearly, she wouldn’t want to mess that up right?

“But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in ‘Game of Thrones,’ and no one else was really happy with their ending. I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it.”

Will We Get More ‘Game of Thrones’?

Still, she stopped short of fully closing the door. While acknowledging the risk of diminishing what once worked, Turner said she’d ultimately need to see what a sequel might look like before making a decision.

“Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can’t be recreated. I would have to see a script.”

HBO is already deep into expanding the Game of Thrones universe, with House of the Dragon and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms carrying the franchise through at least 2028. While most confirmed projects are prequels, Martin’s mention of sequels has reignited speculation — especially after Kit Harington’s Jon Snow follow-up was quietly shelved. Basically, there may be more projects in the wings, but they’ll need to be announced soon. And with Turner about to become Lara Croft in Prime Video‘s new Tomb Raider adaptation, that window may be closed.
