Almost a decade after the conclusion of Halt and Catch Fire, AMC is returning to take a look at the tech industry — but this time, instead of examining its 1980s origins, The Audacity will explore the terrible truth of today’s Silicon Valley. Billy Magnussen, Sarah Goldberg, and Zach Galifianakis star in the new series, which will premiere on Sunday, April 12 on AMC and AMC+.
In the new series, Magnussen (No Time to Die) stars as Duncan Park, the ambitious and audacious CEO of a data-mining company. The blackly comedic drama promises to take on the twisted world of Silicon Valley, including “jaded billionaires, psychiatrist-gurus, bio-hacked tech bros, AI labs, and disillusioned teens being optimized in elite private schools.” The series is the creation of Jonathan Glatzer, a veteran of Succession, Better Call Saul, and Bloodline; he serves as executive producer, writer, and showrunner on the series. The new images from the series also show off the rest of the cast, including Carl Bardolph (Galifianakis, Baskets) in a therapy session with Dr. JoAnne Felder (Goldberg, Barry); a romantic clinch between Martin Phister (Simon Helberg, The Big Bang Theory) and Anushka Bhattachera-Phister (Meaghan Rath, Children Ruin Everything); an obscene gesture from Lili Park-Hoffsteader (Lucy Punch, A Series of Unfortunate Events), and a spotlight on Tom Ruffage (Rob Corddry, Ballers).
What Other Creatives Are Behind ‘The Audacity’?
In addition to the above, The Audacity also stars Paul Adelstein (Private Practice) as Dr. Gary Felder, Everett Blunck (The Plague) as Orson Stern, Thailey Roberge (Reginald the Vampire) as Tess Phister, and Ava Marie Telek (Happy Face) as Jamison Park-Hoffsteader; Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) will guest star as Gabe, the carefree CFO of a data mining operation. The series is executive produced by Gina Mingacci, and will be directed by Lucy Forbes (This Is Going To Hurt), Dan Sackheim (Ozark), Dan Longino (Overcompensating), and Alex Buono (Russian Doll).
The Audacity is only the latest series to examine the inner workings of Silicon Valley. It follows in the footsteps of HBO‘s comedic Silicon Valley; a creation of King of the Hill‘s Mike Judge, it ran for six seasons and took a satirical look at the men behind the machines of the tech world. It precedes the upcoming Cupertino, a legal drama from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King; it will star Mike Colter (Luke Cage) as a lawyer taking on corporate goliaths.
The Audacity will premiere on Sunday, April 12 on AMC.
