‘Behemoth!’: Will Arnett to Replace David Harbour in ‘Andor’ Creator’s Next Project!!

Andor creator Tony Gilroy‘s return to filmmaking has just undergone a shakeup. Last night, news broke that Stranger Things and MCU star David Harbour had departed the project for personal reasons, and now, the Searchlight Pictures project has quickly snagged a former Batman to take his place. Will Arnett, who previously voiced the Caped Crusader in both Lego movies and The Lego Batman Movie, has been tapped to join Pedro Pascal in the much-anticipated Behemoth!, according to a new report on Wednesday afternoon. Although production started back in October, the reshoots needed to accommodate Arnett‘s addition are said to be minimal, as Harbour was busy throughout that time doing press for Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season.

Harbour‘s departure comes after an intensive, months-long push to commemorate the highly scrutinized end of Stranger Things after nearly ten years, though he’s also built up quite a busy production schedule of late. Between signing up for the HBO dark comedy series DTF St. Louis and the Courtney Cox crime thriller Evil Genius and being set to return to the big screen this year with the massive MCU crossover Avengers: Doomsday and his holiday action sequel Violent Night 2, he has no shortage of irons in the fire, even without Behemoth! on his plate. For Arnett, meanwhile, it’s an opportunity to stay on a dramatic hot streak after his acclaimed turn in Bradley Cooper‘s Is This Thing On?. After being known primarily for his comedic talents, from Arrested Development to Murderville and, more recently, Twisted Metal, the dramedy finally earned the BoJack Horseman star more recognition for his abilities in serious roles and spurred his addition to Gilroy‘s star-studded cast once Harbour dropped out.

Alongside Arnett and Pascal, Behemoth! also boasts the talents of Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva, and Alexa Swinton. Plot details have been kept under lock and key so far, but it was revealed that the film will center on a cellist and that Gilroy would be directing from his own script. He’s also set to produce alongside Andor‘s Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy.

Gilroy Hasn’t Directed a Film in Over Ten Years

Behemoth! will mark Gilroy‘s first feature effort since helming The Bourne Legacy in 2012. Though he’s now known for delivering what are widely viewed as two of the greatest seasons of Star Wars television, with five Emmy wins to show between them, he first broke out as a director with the George Clooney-led Michael Clayton, which earned him a pair of Oscar nominations. He’d follow that up with the overall less heralded, but still relatively well-received Duplicity starring Julia Roberts. His most extensive work, however, has been as a writer, from the Bourne movies to Proof of Life, Rogue One, and The Great Wall, which featured Pascal. Combined with the stellar cast, it makes his return to feature filmmaking an exciting one to keep an eye on as work continues on the project.
