‘Dark Winds’ Season 4 Trailer Has Lt. Joe Leaphorn Search for a Missing Girl!! Check It Out!!

Death is coming to Dark Winds in the new trailer for the neo-Western series’ fourth season. Old friends are reunited and new enemies are coming to the fore in the latest season of the George R.R. Martin-produced AMC series. Season 4 of Dark Winds will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on February 15, 2026.

In the new trailer, veteran Navajo police officer Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon, who will also make his directorial debut this season) reflects on a hunt, in which the deer he was stalking, moments before he pulled the trigger, seemed to realize its time had come. Has that time come for Leaphorn, who is now separated from his wife, Emma (Deanna Allison)? Or for his colleagues, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) and Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten), who are looking to finally embark on their long-teased romance? It could be any one of them, because their latest case could be their deadliest yet. A teenage girl has disappeared from her boarding school, and the trail leads to a diner full of dead bodies…and beyond that, to the mean streets of 1970s Los Angeles. There, they’ll have to deal with a powerful crime boss (Titus Welliver) and a lethal survivalist (Franka Potente). This time, it’s possible that nobody gets out alive…

What Is ‘Dark Winds’ About?

Dark Winds is adapted from the Leaphorn and Chee series of mystery novels by the late Tony Hillerman; season four is based on the sixth book of the series, 1984’s The Ghostway. It centers around the adventures of three police officers in the expansive Navajo territory in the 1970s: veteran Joe Leaphorn, his cheery deputy Bernadette Manuelito, and newcomer Jim Chee, who was initially sent in to infiltrate the department by the FBI. Over the course of the show’s three seasons, they’ve dealt with a daring bank robbery, a homicidal archeologist, and the sinister conspiracy that killed Leaphorn’s son. The series is produced by Hillerman‘s friend and fellow author Martin, and by the late Robert Redford; Martin and Redford cameoed in the show’s third season as a pair of chess-playing prisoners.

Redford acquired the rights to Hillerman‘s novels decades ago, and attempted to adapt them twice. First was the 1991 film The Dark Wind, directed by documentarian Errol Morris and starring Lou Diamond Phillips and Fred Ward; second was the made-for-TV film Skinwalkers, directed by Redford‘s son James Redford and starring Adam Beach and Wes Studi.

The fourth season of Dark Winds will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on February 15, 2026.
