‘The Chain’: ‘Lost’ Creator to Adapt Kidnapping Thriller for HBO!!

Famed TV scribe Damon Lindelof has officially found his next scripted project. HBO announced this afternoon that Lindelof is developing a new limited series titled The Chain, which has been given an eight-episode order for its first and only season. The show is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by New York Times best-selling author Adrian McKinty, and it will be Lindelof’s first project under this deal with the Emmy-winning Media Res. Further details about The Chain are being kept under wraps for now, but Lindelof will reportedly “expand the mythology” of the award-winning thriller, which has been compared to Jaws.

Lindelof is best known for his work co-writing and creating the hit TV series Lost with J.J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber. The show was on the air from 2004 to 2010, and it won 10 Emmys during its run. It’s widely celebrated as one of the best TV shows of all time. Lindelof also proved himself a formidable TV scribe with his work on another HBO classic, The Watchmen, which aired one season back in 2019. The dystopian superhero sci-fi series stars Regina Hall and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. He even wrote the script for the highest-grossing zombie movie ever, World War Z.

HBO is the perfect place for Lindelof to bring his vision of The Chain. The production company has delivered some of the most famous TV shows in history, including Game of Thrones and The Wire, and it’s viewed as the premier network for prestige television. It’s been a few years since Lindelof wrote a new TV series, with his last work coming on Mrs. Davis in 2023, but he’s due to return to the small screen in a big way soon.

What’s Streaming on HBO Max Right Now?

HBO has a few of the most popular shows in the world airing new episodes weekly right now. The first is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the Game of Thrones offshoot series set before the events of the original series but after the events of the first spin-off, House of the Dragon. Another certified HBO hit is The Pitt, the new medical drama starring ER’s Noah Wyle. The Pitt won several Emmys for its first season last year, and with a Season 3 renewal already confirmed, the show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
