‘Cape Fear’: First Images Preview Apple TV’s Series Adaptation!! Check It Out!!

This June, we’ll finally see the arrival of the Apple TV remake of “Cape Fear,” which sees Oscar-winner Javier Bardem (“No Country For Old Men”) playing ruthless ex-con stalker Max Cady with Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson playing the main targets of his ire. With that, the streamer has released a batch of first-look photos and a release date.

The main gist of “Cape Fear” is that a hot-shot lawyer’s former client, a deranged killer and rapist, is released from prison with the aim to exact revenge for what he believes is wrongdoing for his incarceration and terrorizes his family, leading to deadly consequences.

Other cast members are expected to include CCH Pounder (“Avatar,” “The Shield”), Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Lily Collias, Joe Anders, Malia Pyles, Patrick Fischler, Ron Perlman (“Drive,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Fallout”), Ted Levine (“Heat,” “Silence of the Lambs”), and Margarita Levieva (“Daredevil: Born Again,” “The Deuce”).

We’ve seen two feature film versions based on John D. MacDonald‘s 1957 novel “The Executioners” in the past, from directors J. Lee Thompson and Martin Scorsese, with the menacing Cady being played by Robert Mitchum (1962 version) and Robert De Niro (1991 version).

A brief official logline for the series remake courtesy of Apple:

In “Cape Fear,” a storm is coming for happily married lawyers Amanda (Adams) and Steve Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady ( Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.

Speaking of Scorsese, he’s part of the show’s producing team alongside Steven Spielberg (who nearly helmed the 1990s version and worked with Apple on the WWII series “Masters of the Air“), Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey via Amblin Television. Creator and showrunner Nick Antosca will also executive produce the 10-episode run alongside Bardem, pilot director Morten Tyldum (“Imitation Game”), and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat.

Check out those first look images from “Cape Fear” below (via Bloody Disgusting), as the show is set to debut on June 5 on Apple TV, said to include the first two episodes.
