After weeks of fans nervously side-eyeing press releases and renewal announcements, Titus Welliver has officially put the rumors to bed: Harry Bosch is not riding off into the sunset just yet. During a recent interview with FabTV, Welliver casually confirmed that he’ll be back in action for Ballard Season 2 — and he did it in the most Bosch way possible: low-key, a little wry, and very L.A. Welliver was first asked about the now-famous mural of Harry Bosch in Los Angeles, which has become a bit of a landmark for fans.
“Hey, is your mural still up?” the interviewer asked.
“It’s still up,” Welliver said. “I think it’s going to stay up there, because it’s for Bosch Day, which has now become an L.A., you know, City of Los Angeles event.”
For longtime viewers of Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, that mural is more than just cool street art, it’s a symbol of how deeply the character has embedded himself in the city’s TV legacy. But the real headline came next, when Welliver dropped an update about his schedule.
“Hey, I’m going to do three episodes starting in February, so I’ll go and join up with Maggie Q and the whole Ballard group again. So I’m excited for that. It’ll be fun.”
That single sentence answers the question fans have been asking ever since Prime Video renewed Ballard for a second season and didn’t mention Welliver in the official announcement. His absence had sparked real concern that Season 1 might’ve been the last time we saw Harry Bosch on screen — especially since Welliver has signed on to star in the upcoming MGM+ series The Westies alongside J.K. Simmons.
Is Titus Welliver Returning as Bosch?
Ballard, based on the novels by Michael Connelly, follows Detective Renée Ballard as she works cold cases on the LAPD night shift. The show debuted July 9 on Prime Video and quickly became a major hit, topping streaming charts and earning critical acclaim, but when the Season 2 renewal was announced, the focus was squarely on Maggie Q and Ballard’s expanding world, with Welliver not even garnering a mention and all the chat being about Ballard’s world expanding and moving forward.
Given that the original Bosch ran for seven seasons before spinning into Bosch: Legacy and then Ballard, many assumed the franchise might finally be shifting fully away from Harry Bosch. But now we know, he’ll be back.
Ballard Season 2 premieres this year.
