‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Is Going to Come Later Than Expected!!

If you’re already desperate for more Pluribus, we have good news and mildly painful news.

Yes, Season 2 is in the works. No, it’s not pulling a speed run between seasons.

During Apple TV’s first-ever press day at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, creator Vince Gilligan joined star Rhea Seehorn and cast members Karolina Wydra, Carlos Manuel Vesga, and Samba Schutte for a panel chat. Naturally, the one thing every fan is yelling into the void right now came up: where exactly is Season 2 in the writing process?

Since Pluribus debuted in November 2025, that means Season 2 could realistically land in November 2027… or 2028… or later. Basically: emotionally prepare now. The series stars Seehorn as Carol, a best-selling author who also happens to be “the most miserable person on Earth” — and somehow humanity’s best shot at saving the world from happiness. Yes, it’s that kind of show.

When Will Pluribus Season 2 Premiere?

Collider‘s Carly Lane asked Gilligan about the progress of Season 2, and it was clear that, while Gilligan is excited about where Pluribus is set to explore, it wouldn’t be a quick fix, noting that fans shouldn’t expect 24 episodes per year like on his previous show, The X-Files, or even yearly, like HBO Max‘s phenomenon, The Pitt:

“We are plugging away, my writers and I, plugging away, and, please, for all the folks, God bless you if you like the show, and thank you for getting us here on this stage. It takes a long time to come up with these episodes. We are deeper into the process at this moment than I would like, considering how few episodes we have figured out, but it takes some time, just as it did in the first season, and we appreciate everybody’s patience, but it ain’t going to be The Pitt coming back every year. I wish it would be, because I think it’s an awesome show, and that’s old school like we used to do it on The X-Files. We’d come back the same month every year. It will not be like The Pitt. We’ll come back maybe the same month. It’s just a question of what year. So thank you for your patience.”

Pluribus Season 1 is currently streaming on Apple TV. Stay tuned for more updates on the production of Season 2.
