Since making its Season 3 comeback earlier this year, Hulu’s Tell Me Lies has proven itself to be a knock-out hit for the platform. With a two-year break between the sophomore season and the latest installment, it wasn’t clear how audiences would react and whether the show’s resurgence would be a successful one. But weeks upon weeks in the streamer’s Top 10 have painted a clear picture that fans continue to be obsessed with the episodic adaptation of Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel of the same name.
Following a wildly toxic relationship, Tell Me Lies charts the course of the lives of two college students, Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), and the multiple ups and downs of their relationship. Covering an eight-year span, the series jumps back and forth in the timeline as it unravels the complex dynamic between not only the leading couple, but also their group of friends. In addition to Van Patten and White, the series also features the talents of an ensemble that includes Catherine Missal (A House of Dynamite), Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Spencer House (Space Force), Alicia Crowder (The Society), Sonia Mena (The Deuce), Costa D’Angelo (East of Eden) and Branden Cook (Masters of the Air).
The Fate of ‘Tell Me Lies’ Has Been Revealed
Considering how immensely popular Season 3 of Tell Me Lies has been, the show’s dedicated following have been waiting patiently for word of a Season 4 renewal. Sadly, it’s a bit of news that will never come as Meaghan Oppenheimer, the title’s showrunner, revealed that last night’s Season 3 finale will also effectively be the series finale. Taking to Instagram to break the hearts of fans around the world, she posted a photo of the cast and wrote:
“After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion. My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you. And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending – a privilege very few shows get. Thank you for loving our show. We are excited to bring you more stories in the near future.”
