First look images have been released for Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming thriller In the Grey, which stars Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González.
After directing Fountain of Youth and the just-released series Young Sherlock, Ritchie is back at the helm for In the Grey, in which a group of operatives attempts to retrieve $1 billion that was stolen by a despot. It seems like an impossible task at first, but the team will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Collider has shared two images from the Ritchie film, which arrives in theaters on May 15, and revealed that the trailer will be released on March 9.
The first image shows González‘s character, Sophia, in the foreground while talking on her phone, with Cavill‘s John Grey and Gyllenhaal‘s Michael Harris in the background wearing serious and grim expressions.
In the second photo, Gyllenhaal and Cavill are standing outside what appears to be an expensive house overlooking the water. The two actors have similar facial expressions, with the former donning sunglasses. Check out the first look images from In the Grey below:
Along with Cavill, Gyllenhaal, and González, the In the Grey cast also includes Rosamund Pike, Fisher Stevens, Jason Wong, Emmett J. Scanlan, and Carlos Bardem. The acclaimed filmmaker not only directed the movie, but he also wrote the script and served as a producer with Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg.
Ritchie has helmed several action movies over the years, including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, the live-action remake of Aladdin and The Covenant. On the small screen, he created The Gentlemen and produced episodes of MobLand and Young Sherlock.
In the Grey isn’t Ritchie‘s first time working with this acting trio. Cavill appeared in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Gyllenhaal was cast in the director’s 2023 film The Covenant. Then, Cavill and González starred in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare the following year.
Cavill is best known for playing Superman in several DC movies. His other credits include Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Enola Holmes, Argylle, The Tudors, and the first three seasons of The Witcher before being replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
Gyllenhaal‘s performance in Brokeback Mountain earned him nominations at the Oscars, Critics’ Choice Awards, and SAG Awards, and he took home the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the BAFTAs. His roles in Nightcrawler, Nocturnal Animals, End of Watch, Stronger, Presumed Innocent, and Love & Other Drugs also landed him several other award nods.
Meanwhile, González has starred in movies like Baby Driver, Alita: Battle Angel, Hobbs & Shaw, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Ambulance (with Gyllenhaal). On the small screen, she appeared in David Benioff and D. B. Weiss‘ post-Game of Thrones series 3 Body Problems.
Now all three actors are teaming up for Ritchie‘s next film, which is one of many projects the director has lined up in the coming years.
In the Grey will be released in theaters on Friday, May 15, 2026.
