‘The Incredibles 3’ Officially Sets June 2028 Release Date!!

The Incredibles are coming back, but don’t rush your super-suit to the dry cleaners just yet. It’s going to be a long wait until Bob, Helen, and company return for their third big-screen outing. In fact, it’ll be almost ten years to the date since their last adventure.

The Incredibles 3 will be released on June 16, 2028, marking a decade and a day since The Incredibles 2 premiered in 2018. Of course, the franchise is no stranger to belated sequels, since Incredibles 2 premiered 14 years after the original film made its first bow in 2004. So far, details about the film have been as difficult to find as invisible teenager Violet. However, we do know that Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films of the series, will not be back in the director’s chair. He will be executive producing and penning the script, but directorial duties have been passed to Pixar veteran Peter Sohn, who recently helmed Elemental; appropriately, Sohn‘s first Hollywood job was working as an animator on Bird‘s 1999 classic The Iron Giant.

Who Are The Incredibles?

Set in a retro-futuristic 1960s, The Incredibles takes place in a world where costumed superheroes and villains were once commonplace, but were eventually outlawed by the government. As the first film opens, Bob and Helen Parr (Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter), formerly the invulnerable Mr. Incredible and the pliable Elasti-Girl, have settled down in suburbia with their three kids, hyperactive Dash (Spencer Fox), shy Violet (Sarah Vowell), and baby Jack-Jack. While Bob occasionally does some clandestine superheroics with similarly retired buddy Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson), he longs to be a hero again…and seemingly gets that chance from the mysterious Syndrome (Jason Lee). However, Syndrome’s true intentions are deeply sinister, and soon it will take Bob’s whole family — including Dash and Violet, who have powers of their own — to save him. The sequel sees a pair of billionaire siblings (Catherine Keener and Bob Odenkirk) planning to bring superheroes out of the shadows, but a new menace, the hypnotic Screenslaver, threatens to destroy them once and for all.

So far, 2028’s release calendar is quite sparse. We don’t know what Incredibles 3 will be facing in its opening weekend yet, but it will have a two-week head start on Dynamic Duo, a new puppet-based DC Comics film about the relationship between Batman’s sidekicks Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.

The Incredibles 3 will be released in theaters on June 16, 2028.
