‘Devil May Cry’ Season 2 Teaser Introduces The Game’s Biggest Rivalry!! Check It Out!!

A storm is approaching for Devil May Cry. Season 2 of Netflix‘s hit video game adaptation is now less than two months away from returning with more stylish demon-slaying goodness, but the main draw, of course, will be the equally epic and tragic clash between Dante (Johnny Yong Bosch) and his estranged twin brother, Vergil (Robbie Daymond). After the reveal that the latter was actually still alive at the end of Season 1, the course was set for an inevitable duel between the two mirroring forces and eternal rivals. To prepare, a new trailer has been shared, flashing between the past and present to show how this fight between the half-demon siblings has been years in the making.

DMC Season 2 picks up from that final tease that set Dante and Vergil on a collision course on opposite sides of a new war between worlds. As the fighting ignites following Vice President William Baines (Kevin Conroy) invasion of Makai, the two are pitted against each other in a conflict that will force Dante to reckon with his own demons and his lingering feelings of family. As series creator Adi Shankar teased to Collider in our Spring Exclusive Preview series, Vergil’s presence as a new central figure in the story offers a different dynamic in contrast to his swaggering brother, shaking up the show with something that will challenge Dante in a new way. “The interesting part is that Vergil’s a guy who can stand completely still and still feel like the most dangerous one in the room. His presence does the talking.”

In the trailer, Dante and Vergil are first shown as children with their mother reminding them that their pain “isn’t a monster you can fight or run from,” but rather a part of them to accept as a tie that binds them together. Their playful clashes with wooden sticks mirror their higher-stakes, real battles as adults, fueled by their shared history. Although Dante vows to get his brother back, it won’t be easy, given how much the latter has changed and how well they can match each other blow for blow. The battle will be emotional, bringing back warm and painful memories alike, and forcing even the more stoic Vergil to question what their fates would’ve been had their positions been switched on that fateful night he was believed to have perished.

‘Devil May Cry’ Season 2 Reunites Most of the Team for More

Shankar is back at the helm as showrunner for Season 2 of the Capcom adaptation with most of the same team around him, both among the cast and behind the scenes. Studio Mir is once again handling the animation after delivering on the smokin’ sexy style in Season 1. With Vergil becoming a much bigger presence, Daymond now also gets a chance to fully embrace the role, bringing experience from his time on Critical Role, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jujutsu Kaisen, and countless other parts in animation and video games. He joins the also returning Bosch and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady.

Devil May Cry Season 2 arrives on Netflix on May 15. Check out the new trailer in the player above.
