A Jeffrey Epstein Series is in the Works with Laura Dern Attached!!

A television show about the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein is in the works, with a legendary actress attached to the project.

What do we know about the Jeffrey Epstein TV show?

According to a new report from Variety, Sony Pictures Television is shopping the project, which has Jurassic Park legend Laura Dern attached to star. The project is said to be based on the book Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story by Julie K. Brown. Dern is said to be starring in the show as Brown, a Miami Herald journalist who’s investigation into Epstein helped shine a renewed light on the man.

A description of the series calls it “an explosive account of an investigative reporter exposing the secret plea deal between Epstein and federal prosecutors. Drawing from Brown’s experience as a groundbreaking reporter for the Miami Herald, the book and the limited series follow her relentless years-long investigation that identified 80 victims, persuaded key survivors to go on the record, and led to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s arrests.”

Sharon Hoffman (House of Cards) is adapting the book for the screen, and will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Eileen Myers (Masters of Sex). Hoffman and Dern will executive produce the project, along with Adam McKay and Kevin Messick. Although no official home for the project has been found, it seems likely Sony will find a landing place for the show, and with it, it’ll be the first scripted series to release about Epstein.

The financier, who died in 2019, was discovered to be operating a high-profile sex trafficking ring involving some of the most powerful people on earth, and was indicted in 2019 for sex trafficking minors throughout the 2000s. Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, was also conviced of child sex trafficking, and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The uncovering of Epstein’s sex trafficking ring has led to several high-profile arrests, including Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew and former prime minister of Norway Thorbjorn Jagland. Several other high-profile individuals faced scrunity for their connection to Epstein, as well.
