Prime Video has developed plenty of flagship properties over the years, but few have returned its investment as well as The Boys. The show first premiered in 2019 and has since aired four full seasons, all of which have earned widespread acclaim from critics and audiences. Around the same time that The Boys Season 4 concluded in 2024, Prime Video announced that the show had been renewed for Season 5, but the announcement also included the bittersweet confirmation that Season 5 would be the last. The first two episodes of Season 5 are set to premiere tomorrow, but Prime Video still has more in store for fans of the series.
This afternoon, Prime Video announced four new cast members heading into The Boys Season 5, mere hours before the Season 5 premiere. The new ensemble includes For All Mankind star Ely Henry in the role of The Worm, as well as Dylan Colton as Jetstreak, Emma Elle Paterson as Sheline, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Countess Crow. Details about their roles are being kept under wraps, but Prime Video did confirm that the latter three will be members of Vought International’s all-teenage superhero team, Teenage Kix, which appears in the graphic novels that inspired The Boys. Following the premiere of the first two episodes of The Boys Season 5, new episodes will be released weekly until the show culminates in a wild finale on May 20.
What’s Going To Happen in ‘The Boys’ Season 5?
The official synopsis for The Boys Season 5 reads as follows:
“In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.”
Other stars returning to feature in the fifth and final season of The Boys include Karl Urban as Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Tomer Capone as Frenchie, and Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko. The show was written and created for TV by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
