2026 is already shaping up to be a huge year for Rebecca Ferguson, and it looks like it’s only going to get bigger as the months go on. She got things started by starring alongside Chris Pratt in the divisive sci-fi blockbuster Mercy, which disappointed at the box office but later found major success on streaming. Just under two weeks ago, Ferguson joined forces with Cillian Murphy for the long-awaited Peaky Blinders sequel film, The Immortal Man, which remains near the top of Netflix’s streaming charts even weeks after its release. She’s also set to return as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Three later this year and will reprise her role as Juliette Nichols in the third season of Silo this summer. It’s fair to say 2026 belongs to Rebecca Ferguson.
In the middle of all that, she’s also taking on a brand-new fantasy project with Andrew Garfield. Ferguson has been cast as one of the leads in The Magic Faraway Tree, an upcoming film adaptation of the novel first published back in 1939. The Magic Faraway Tree began playing in theaters internationally a few weeks ago, mere days after it debuted to a flawless 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, making it Ferguson’s first perfect movie of 2026. This score has since dipped to 96% following the arrival of its first negative review, but it’s still one of the highest-rated films of 2026. Just yesterday, news broke that Vertical had picked up The Magic Faraway Tree for distribution in the U.S., setting the film for release on August 21. It’s already earned over $10 million at the UK box office, and it’s poised to add to this later this summer.
