‘Man of Tomorrow’: Rumored ‘Wonder Woman’ Frontrunner Adria Arjona Officially Joins ‘Superman’ Follow-Up!!

It looks like Man of Tomorrow, James Gunn‘s follow-up to last summer’s Superman, has cast its final major character. However, it seems that character might not be what anyone’s expecting. You might have to wait until Man of Tomorrow hits theaters next summer to find out.

According to reports, Adria Arjona (Hit Man) has been cast in Man of Tomorrow. Other actresses rumored to be up for the role were Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten. Last week, the role became part of a storm of controversy; while one outlet reported that Arjona, Ella Purnell, and Marisa Abela were testing for the mystery role, Gunn later denied the report. After it was retracted, another outlet provided a different list of names that was pointedly not denied by Gunn. On top of this, while the role was initially reported to be Maxima, an alien queen who has been both friend and foe to the Man of Steel, it is now being reported that may not be correct. This will only add fuel to the fire of speculation that the mystery role is in fact Wonder Woman, the premier heroine of the DC cosmos and the star of multiple films in the prior DC cinematic universe. A film starring the new incarnation of Wonder Woman is reportedly in the works at the studio. Furthermore, Gunn previously stated that Arjona, who starred in his film The Belko Experiment, would be “a great Wonder Woman.”

What Do We Know About ‘Man of Tomorrow’?

So far, most details about the film are being kept under lock and key in the Fortress of Solitude. However, the film (which Gunn insists is not a sequel to Superman) will see the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) forced to team up with his archnemesis, megalomaniacal tycoon Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), to save the Earth from an even greater threat: the super-intelligent alien Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). Also aiding The Last Son of Krypton are Superman returnees Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), as well as John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), who will debut in HBO Max’s Lanterns this spring. Superman supporting characters Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), and Eve Teschmacher (Sara Sampaio) will also return.

Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
