‘The Inbetweeners’ Set to Return with New Netflix Film!!

The 21st century has proven a fruitful period so far for British comedy. James Corden and Ruth Jones Gavin & Stacey broke records when it came to an end in 2024; David Mitchell and Robert Webb changed modern comedy in Peep Show; Armando Iannucci delivered biting political satire with The Thick of It; Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant‘s The Office inspired one of America’s greatest comedies, and much more.

One of the most beloved from this era, and the quintessential series for all-things cringe-Noughties teen humor, is The Inbetweeners. Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris first launched the series in 2008, quickly finding a teen audience that had been desperately waiting to see their angst-ridden mid-2000s lives represented on screen in all its hard-to-watch glory. Beesley and Morris found their perfect characters in Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison), with audiences watching in their millions as they struggled on the brink of adulthood.

Back in October 2025, it was reported that The Inbetweeners had been motioned for a revival, with a deal “struck by Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions” to bring the acclaimed comedy back. At the time, creators Beesley and Morris said, “Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends).” News of this revival had been quiet for many months, but now, according to a new insider report, The Inbetweeners return has found a home at the world’s biggest streamer: Netflix. “Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project,” the report reads. “But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on our television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won’t [be] in its original home on Channel 4.”

‘The Inbetweeners’ Is Beloved

Still watched regularly by its millions of fans, The Inbetweeners wasn’t just a hit with audiences but also with critics. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the three-season series, which also spawned two financially successful movies, holds an average critics’ score of 83%. The consensus on the site for the opening season reads, “The Inbetweeners distinguishes itself from other sex-crazed teenage comedies with a sweetly irreverent take on the pain of pubescence.”

The Inbetweeners is coming back.
