Fantasy has become one of the most popular genres in the world, and much of that can be credited to the work of The Lord of the Rings movies and the Game of Thrones TV show. Both projects opened the eyes of fans and creatives to what could be accomplished when a big budget is given to a fantasy project, with a creative at the forefront committed to bringing a beautiful new world to life. Even now, all these years later, fantasy projects continue to dominate streaming charts and the box office.
Another popular fantasy project to emerge in the last few years is Outlander, which debuted on Starz in 2014 and is set to conclude next month with an explosive and emotional Season 8 finale. The first Outlander spin-off arrived just August last year, and this afternoon, Starz officially unleashed the first trailer for Season 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. It’s still unclear when Season 2 will premiere, other than this Fall, but now that the first trailer and images are out, this announcement is likely coming sooner rather than later. The ensemble cast for Season 2 includes Hermione Corfield as Julia, Jeremy Irvine as Henry, Harriet Slater as Ellen, Jamie Roy as Brian, McLean Ross as Colum Mackenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.
What’s Going To Happen In The Next Season of ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’?
The official synopsis for Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 reads as follows:
“In Season 1, Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia, began a romance through the letters they exchanged from the war-torn battlefields of WWI, but were tested in new ways when an unexpected journey back in time left them lost and separated in the sweeping highlands of 18th century Scotland. Meanwhile, it was love at first sight for Ellen and Brian. Despite being members of two rival clans, the two began a forbidden romance and vowed their eternal love, choosing each other over tradition, politics and familial obligations. By the end of the season, both couples were on the precipice of a big change. After fighting to find their way back to one another, Henry and Julia were at the standing stones of Craig Na Dun, hoping to return to their own time, and Brian and Ellen’s romantic escape was interrupted as the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, thrusting the clans into war. As Season 2 unfolds, the two young couples will be tested and separated by forces beyond their control, as every clan chooses a side in the rebellion.”
