It hasn’t even been a month since the Paradise Season 2 finale, but in true Dan Fogelman fashion, things are already moving quickly on Paradise Season 3. Hulu didn’t waste time delivering the news that Paradise has been renewed for a third and final season — it was announced about halfway through Season 2 that the show would come back with another batch of episodes. This was essentially confirmed long before the official announcement, though, as Sterling K. Brown had publicly spoken about the filming timeline for Season 3 before Hulu’s announcement. Still, fans likely won’t have to wait long to watch the final season of Paradise, considering production on Season 3 got rolling a few weeks ago, mere days after the Season 2 finale.
Plot details about Paradise Season 3 are being kept under wraps for now, but the Season 2 finale leaves some idea of where the show is going. Now that the famous Paradise bunker has been destroyed and Sinatra (played by Julianne Nicholson) is dead, the focus of the show is shifting from the bunker to saving the world, a job that falls on the shoulders of Xavier Collins (played by Sterling K. Brown). This afternoon, Paradise announced its first new member of the Season 3 cast, when news broke that Emmy winner Julianna Margulies would have a key role in the third and final season. Details about who she’s playing are being kept under wraps, but it’s expected to be a larger role. Margulies is a two-time Emmy winner for her performance in The Good Wife, and she also picked up a win all the way back in 1995 for her performance in the first season of ER.
What Is ‘Paradise’ About?
The first season of Paradise follows Secret Service Agent Xavier Collins as he investigates the brutal murder of President Cal Bradford (played by James Marsden). Things take a sci-fi-style turn when it’s revealed that the murder took place in an underground bunker, where 25,000 people live after a natural disaster left the world no longer inhabitable. At the end of Season 1, we learn that there are indeed people living in the outside world, and Xavier Collins leaves his life in the bunker behind to venture out and find his wife in Season 2.
