‘2034’: Rian Johnson Sets New Sci-Fi Thriller with Natalie Portman!!

Since The Last Jedi hit theaters back in 2017, Rian Johnson has become one of the most popular and polarizing directors in Hollywood. The Last Jedi was a massive financial success, grossing over $1.3 billion at the box office, but the film created a rift between the Star Wars fan base that’s still dividing fans to this day. Johnson has found success in life after The Last Jedi, though, with a trio of Knives Out movies led by Daniel Craig. The first Knives Out movie premiered at the end of 2019, and Johnson was able to produce and direct three critically acclaimed murder mystery films, all set against stunning backdrops of wild variety. After spending so many years making Knives Out movies, though, Johnson is officially ready to move on to other projects.

Rian Johnson has been tapped to produce a new sci-fi thriller, 2034, which stars Natalie Portman. Plot details about the film are being kept under wraps for now, as are additional cast members, but news broke yesterday that the film is set to begin production in Europe soon and shoot in several countries over the coming months. It’s still unclear at this time when the project will be released, but if production is set to last until near the end of the year, it’s a safe bet that it won’t premiere until sometime in 2027. Johnson will also balance working on the third season of Poker Face on Peacock, but things are going to look a lot different as the series moves forward. It was reported last year that Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage will take the place of Natasha Lyonne as the new leading star in the show.

When Does ‘Poker Face’ Season 3 Come Out?

Neither Peacock nor Rian Johnson has yet to provide any official release window for Poker Face Season 3, but considering the show hasn’t even resumed production yet, it’s unlikely it will return anytime before late 2027. There were more than two full years between Poker Face Season 1 and 2, and with there being a change in lead star and Johnson working on other projects, it’s a safe bet the gap between Season 2 and 3 will be even longer. The series holds a nearly perfect 97% from critics on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.
