‘Scarpetta’ Season 2 Adds David Arquette, William Zabka & More!!

Prime Video clearly knows there’s still plenty of life in a good crime thriller, especially when it comes with a bestselling book series, a stacked cast, and the kind of forensic mystery that lets everyone stand around looking haunted under terrible lighting. After finding its footing as one of the streamer’s stronger adult-skewing thrillers, the series is already moving deeper into its second chapter. And because apparently the first season wasn’t crowded enough, Season 2 is bringing in even more recognizable faces.

Production on the new season of Scarpetta is underway, continuing Prime Video’s two-season adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling Kay Scarpetta novels. The series stars Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a brilliant medical examiner who returns to Virginia decades after the case that made her famous, only to find herself pulled back into old wounds, family chaos, and fresh horrors. New Season 2 additions include David Arquette (Scream, Never Been Kissed), Jodi Balfour (For All Mankind, Ted Lasso), William Zabka (The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai), Kim Dickens (Fear the Walking Dead, Deadwood), Killer Mike(ATL, Trigger Warning), and Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men, The Practice). Character details for the new additions have not been announced.

The first season premiered on Prime Video in March 2026 and unfolded across two timelines, following Kay in the present day and in the late 1990s. Season 1 adapted Cornwell’s Postmortem and Autopsy, while Season 2 is expected to continue that structure with storylines tied to Cruel and Unusual and The Body Farm. The cast includes Kidman (Moulin Rouge!, The Hours) as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Everything Everywhere All at Once) as Dorothy Scarpetta, Bobby Cannavale (The Station Agent, Boardwalk Empire) as Pete Marino, Simon Baker (The Mentalist, Margin Call) as Benton Wesley, Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Argylle) as Lucy Farinelli-Watson, Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean, The Alienist) as young Kay, Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist, Friday the 13th) as young Dorothy, Jacob Lumet Cannavale (The Mandalorian, Nurse Jackie) as young Pete, and Hunter Parrish (Weeds, 17 Again) as young Benton.

Scarpetta is developed by Liz Sarnoff, with Shawn Levy among the executive producers. The series comes from Blumhouse Television, Blossom Films, Comet Pictures, and Made Up Stories, with Amazon MGM Studios producing for Prime Video. Season 2 is currently in production.
