Over the last 10–15 years, Dan Levy has quietly become one of the most important names in the comedy genre. Levy is best known for his work as a star, producer, and creator of the hit comedy show Schitt’s Creek, which ran for six seasons between 2015 and 2020. The show co-stars Levy’s father, Eugene Levy, along with the late Catherine O’Hara, who tragically passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer. Levy has also starred in other notable projects over the last few years, particularly the Netflix original romantic comedy Good Grief, which premiered in 2023. The film co-stars Ruth Negga, who also recently starred in one of the most underrated Apple TV series of the last few years, Presumed Innocent (co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal).
Earlier this year, Levy returned to Netflix with his latest heist comedy series, Big Mistakes, which premiered in its entirety on April 9. The show earned solid scores of 79% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it left its mark as one of the most popular binges of the year for Netflix. Now more than a month removed from the Season 1 premiere of Big Mistakes, Netflix officially confirmed during its Upfront presentation that the show has been renewed for Season 2. In addition to confirming the renewal for Big Mistakes, Netflix has announced that it has inked a first-look deal with Levy, meaning more of his projects are certainly coming to the streamer in the future. Plot details about Big Mistakes Season 2 are being kept under wraps at this time, but more information will likely become available when the show resumes production, possibly later this year.
What Is the First Season of ‘Big Mistakes’ About?
Netflix’s official synopsis for the first season of Big Mistakes reads as follows:
“From Emmy award-winning Dan Levy comes a bold, new comedic family saga set within a high-stakes crime thriller. Big Mistakes follows Nick (Levy) and Morgan (Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime. Blackmailed into increasingly dangerous assignments, they clumsily fail upwards, sinking deeper into chaos they’re ill-equipped to deal with.”
Rachel Sennott also creates and executive produces the series alongside Levy. Additional cast members for Season 1 include Laurie Metcalfe, Abby Quinn, Boran Kuzum, Jack Innanen, Elizabeth Perkins, Mark Ivanir, Ilia Vōlok, Jacob Gutierrez, and Joe Barbara.
