R. Madhavan has unveiled a new poster from GDN, his upcoming biopic on visionary inventor and industrialist Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, widely known as the Edison of India. The poster reveal also comes with a confirmed worldwide release date of July 17, 2026.

The poster carries the line “Feared by the British… Forgotten by his countrymen,” a striking introduction to a man whose contributions to India’s industrial and technological landscape remain largely unrecognised. Madhavan appears amid a crowd, embodying the intensity and stature of a figure who was far ahead of his time. The image sets the tone for a film that intends to restore Naidu’s legacy to the wider public consciousness.
GDN marks a reunion of the National Award-winning team behind Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, bringing together Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films once again for another ambitious biographical project. The film is produced by Varghese Moolan and Vijay Moolan of Varghese Moolan Pictures, alongside R. Madhavan and Sarita Madhavan of Tricolour Films. Directed and written by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, the film was shot entirely in Coimbatore, Naidu’s birthplace, to authentically capture the textures and atmosphere of his era.
The ensemble cast includes Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priyamani, Dushara Vijayan, Thambi Ramaiah, and Vinay Rai. Music is composed by Govind Vasantha, who previously scored Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.
GDN releases worldwide on July 17, 2026, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
