Hundreds of TV shows are released onto various streaming services and networks every year, and only a select few are given the chance to continue beyond Season 1. Fewer still are given the chance to tell a complete story and come to a natural ending, and even of this bunch, only a small number enter rarified air to live on as one of the best TV shows of all time. Netflix confirmed last year that it was developing a new Peaky Blinders series, and since the premiere of The Immortal Man in March, things have begun moving quickly for the new generation of Shelby stories. A few weeks ago, Netflix unveiled the first-look image of Jamie Bell as the new Duke Shelby in the series, confirming that he was taking over the role from Barry Keoghan. This afternoon, Netflix dropped the first photo of Bell’s co-star, Charlie Heaton, in the new Peaky Blinders series, which will still be set in Birmingham just following a new group of the Shelby family. Heaton is best known for his role as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, and he can also be seen playing James Dycker in Industry, the HBO original financial drama that’s been renewed for a fifth and final season. Heaton will play Charles Shelby in the new Peaky Blinders show, and a first-look image and description of his character can be found below.
Did Fans Like ‘The Immortal Man’?
The Immortal Man earned strong scores of 90% from critics and 89% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. Most fans agreed that it was a perfect send-off for Thomas Shelby’s character, but there were a select few who were unhappy with the way the film ended. This is just the nature of the ending for any show that has developed the same level of following as Peaky Blinders, though — it’s impossible to please everyone. Rebecca Ferguson also had a key role in The Immortal Man, and she has not ruled out a return to the franchise in the future.
